We had a Japanese-American summer student last year, who came visit us the other day.
She brought us a box of wagashi (traditional Japanese confectionery) as a New Year's gift.
My boss thought it was a box of candies until yesterday when she opened and had one of them.
"Oh I thought they were candies. They are actually pieces of sugar. You put one in to your coffee."
Hmm...good thinking, but it's not that. Okay?
